Fiberoptic high speed Internet
You can find the wifi SSID and password information on the modem in the condo.
Please respect our neighbours; quiet hours are between 10pm and 7am.
La Bocana is a quiet family neighbourhood, please be respectful, no parties or loud music is permitted. Please enjoy yourself, but remember we have neighbours. Only those guests included in the booking are permitted to enter the property.
Both smoking and drug use are strictly prohibited in and around the property.
WhatsApp is the widest-used form of communication. Between this and Facebook you can book taxis and restaurants, and generally find your way around.
Respect the power of mother nature – we quite enjoy the beach and surf in Bocana, but please exercise your good judgement and use the beach at your own risk. The surf can sometimes be strong (for any-level swimmer).
Huatulco has all the amenities you need, we've added some of the basics to get started below.
Yes. The cost of taking a taxi from within the HUX airport property is about twice as much as taking a taxi that waits at the Sitio right outside the airport - at the Pemex across the street from the exit (about a 5 minute walk). Taxis within the airport property are usually newer vehicles with air conditioning.
Taxis are plentiful and relatively inexpensive in Huatulco; there is no Uber. Taxi fares within Huatulco are pre-set, and posted at taxi stands (called a ‘Sitio’), and hotels. Your fare will be charged in Pesos, you must pay with cash. The only exception to this is pre-paying your taxi fare at the taxi stand inside the airport property.
Taxis from the condo to Santa Cruz or La Crucecita are $100 Pesos. The local taxi driver (Feilx) can be reached on WhatsApp +52 958 119 3910. If Felix is not available, taxis can be easily requested from the Casa Bocana hotel 24 hours a day.
Tip: Whenever taking a taxi, ask for a business card or What's App contact from the driver. Most are happy to oblige and quick to respond when they are working.
Chedraui & Soriana are the two ‘Walmart-like’ grocery stores in town. They are both $100 peso taxi rides from the condo, each way. You can get anything you need here, including a wide selection of food, wine and beer, and all your grocery and pharmacy. As you would expect at a store like this, you’ll also find beach/pool toys, clothes, games, electronics and everything in between.
There are also lots of other great shops in the middle of La Crucecita:
Produce: A few blocks from the main square in Crucicita, you will find FRUVER, has consistently large selection of decent produce. There are several local stores around that are also great. Fruver is a great starting point.
Meat (Carne): Also a few blocks from the main square in Crucicita, you will find Papaloapan, a fantastic butcher shop that will cut-to-order, has the best bacon in town, and all around great quality meat. Try the pre-marinated arrechera steak (usually found in the freezer)
Fish (Pesca): Again, a few blocks from the main square in Crucicita (closer to Fruver), you will find a number of roadside vendors selling fish and seafood from their coolers. Just be sure to look for well-chilled product.
Yes, you will need cash (pesos) for many items. Credit cards are accepted at many places, but not everywhere.
Bank machines are located in many areas - Chedraui (grocery store) has about 5-6 different bank machines from Scotia Bank, HSBC, Santander, and a variety of others. The closest ATM to the condo is in Tangolunda at the Barcelo Hotel gates, as well as in the adjacent plazas.
HSBC & Scotia Bank have local branches.
There are many things to explore in La Bocana itself, including surfing, surf lessons, mud baths, restaurants, mezcal, culinary school, and long walks on the undeveloped beach.
See below for all the things you can experience within a 2 minute walk...

It's simple, but just to ensure no hiccup on your first morning.
Standard operational procedure, except for the dishwasher tabs that are often the only option available in Mexico....
It's easy, but just in case you don't have one of these at home
Using the oven is straight forward
Most of the time, you'll want to use the Quick Wash setting
Always consider hang drying, as it takes less time than using the dryer and saves your time doing laundry. A drying rack is available in the laundry room.
Huatulco (most of Mexico!) is an active Earthquake Zone!
Don’t panic, every year, Mexico records an average of about 30,000 earthquakes. It’s likely you could experience one while visiting. Most quakes are relatively small (<4.0 magnitude) and can be compared to what you’d expect if a large truck were driving by on the cobble stones (rumbling sound and feel).
While unlikely, if you need to evacuate to higher ground, head up toward the main highway.
There is a first aid kit located in the master bathroom
There is a fire extinguisher located under the sink in the kitchen.
